2D animation is the creation of moving images in a two-dimensional space, using software such as Adobe Flash or Toon Boom. 3D animation is the creation of moving images in a three-dimensional space, using software such as Autodesk Maya or Blender. 2D animations have limited movement and flexibility, whereas 3D animations have more realistic movement and flexibility. 2D animations are less complex and take less time to create, whereas 3D animations are more complex and take longer to create. 2D animation is more suited for hand-drawn or cartoon-style animation, whereas 3D animation is more suited for realistic, computer-generated animation.
