Job Description
We are looking for a talented Data Science Engineer to automate complex data analysis workflows and convert models developed in MATLAB and other statistical platforms into robust, production-grade Python applications.
This is a remote-first role, but working hours must offer sufficient overlap with teams in Australia and Canada. You’ll collaborate closely with domain experts, engineers, and product teams across time zones to ensure mathematical models are translated into efficient and scalable Python solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate mathematical models and routines from MATLAB, SPS, and similar tools into clean, production-ready Python code.
- Automate end-to-end data analysis workflows, from raw data processing to result generation.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to preserve model fidelity and ensure correctness of implementation.
- Implement and optimize algorithms in numerical analysis and signal processing, tailored to real-world, often noisy datasets.
- Build modular, well-documented, and unit-tested Python libraries and packages for deployment.
- Work with product and engineering teams to integrate models into applications and services.
Requirements
Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in Python and core scientific libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, scikit-learn).
- Experience converting MATLAB (or other similar) models and statistical routines into Python.
- Solid foundation in signal processing, numerical algorithms, and data analysis.
- Experience developing and deploying production-grade analytical software.
- Familiarity with Git and modern development practices.
- Excellent communication skills and flexibility to work across time zones, with consistent overlap with teams in Australia and Canada.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with MATLAB toolboxes (Signal Processing, Statistics, System Identification).
- Familiarity with SPS or similar statistical analysis tools.
- Exposure to Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience in ML model performance tuning, validation, and lifecycle management.
What We Offer
- Remote-first role with flexible working hours that support collaboration across Australia and Canada.
- Work on real-world, impactful problems with a mission-driven and interdisciplinary team.
- Competitive salary and benefits.
- Opportunities to grow in applied AI, engineering, and data science leadership.
