Before starting the sign-up process for free Tableau, make sure you have track of the following things.
- A student email address provided by your university. Contact your university administration in case you lose its access.
- Digital copy of your university ID, clearly stating date of expiry.
- Digital copy of your registration for term clearly showing the date.
Follow these three simple and easy steps and start your journey with free Tableau resources.
Step 1: Provide Information
On the Tableau for Students webpage, click on Get Tableau for Free as shown in the graphic below.
To register for Tableau for Students, find the button ‘Get Tableau for Free’ in the middle of the screen or click on ‘Free Student License’ at the top right corner of the screen.
You will see a window on the right corner of your screen. Fill in your personal information and student information as follows.
Make sure to provide an email address from your affiliated university. For example, the following screen grab shows an email address from Comsats University Islamabad.
Once you are done with entering all details, clicking on the Verify Student Status button. I’ll lead you to the next step as follows.
Click on Sign in to my School Button and login using your university-domain email id.
Step 2: Provide enrollment details of your new term
Once you have logged-in to your university-domain account, Tableau will now ask for your documents to verify your new term as shown in the image below. This information is required by Tableau to renew your license with every new term for 1-year.
Upload digital copies of your student id card and term registration document using the ‘Drag & Drop or Browse’ button. It’lll just take a couple of minutes for tableau to verify your details.
The following message will appear on successful verification.
Step 3: Find Tableau Desktop product key in your email inbox
Tableau will send an email within minutes after successful verification of your details. The email contains the product key and access key for Tableau Learning center.
Use the provided links in the email to download your very own Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep.
Once you download the free Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep, activate using your product key to get started. Begin learning data skills by creating a TableauID account on Tableau eLearning platform and use your access key to register at Tableau Learning center.
And here you go, explore, create, and share your own data story with Tableau.
